Sleder’s Tavern is pleased to announce The Joe Wilson Trio will be kicking off the 2019 On the Porch Concert Series. Joe, playing the Dobro guitar, will be joined by two of Northern Michigan’s finest acoustic musicians, Don Julin (mandolin) and Kevin Gills (bass). The trio will perform original tunes off their 2018 album, Green Street, which aims to showcase “elite instrumentalism in acoustic music” (Wilson). The early bird show is set for 4 p.m. ET on Sunday, January 27 at Sleder’s with full dining and bar service.
The On the Porch Concert Series features performers singing their original work in a concert in a club atmosphere. It is a commitment to allow artists to perform their music in a concert setting, and the series focuses on performers who write/sing/perform their own material.
“Dobro Joe” Wilson is probably best known for playing with longtime Michigan favorites, Steppin’ In It. With Steppin’ In It, Wilson has played many of the nation’s top concerts and festivals, including the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Wheatland, Blissfest, Old Settlers Festival, the Woody Guthrie festival, Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour, and Live at Mountain Stage. He’s been a full-time member of Steppin’ In It since 2000.
Over the years, Joe has shared the stage with Wayne Hancock, Bill Kirchen, Greg Brown, Tim O’brien and many others.
Currently, Joe performs with The Don Julin Quartet, The Wilson Brothers, The True Falsettos, Elizabeth Landry, The Hot Buscuits, The “Ol Microtones, The Joe Wilson Trio, and the occasional Steppin’ In It show.
