This performance by Kennedy’s Kitchen is set for Sunday March 11th, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Sleder’s Tavern which is located at 717 Randolph Street. Traverse City, Michigan.
About the Band
Kennedy’s Kitchen has been making Irish music together since 1998, averaging about 80 shows per year playing everything from backyard parties and weddings to pubs, concert halls, and national festivals. From their home in South Bend, Indiana, they have traveled as far as New York and Naples, Florida, recording five CDs along the way (they are working on their sixth).
They are family and friends, gathering every Thursday evening for dinner, laughter, and music rooted in traditional Irish Music, jigs, reels, hornpipes, aires, recitations, stories, and songs, adding their own compositions along the way. It’s a mix of all things Irish from traditional to pub songs, from toe-tapping to deeply moving, and it’s always fun.
The band is led by joHn Kennedy, award winning singer and guitar player. It’s Kitchen Music from the home, the hearth, and the heart. Joining in is joHn’s nephew Liam Ladewski, then Theresa Kubiak, Chris O’Brien, Rob Weber, and Jacob Turner. Liam, Theresa, and Jacob are award winners themselves having competed in the All-Ireland Fleadh on their respective instruments. They play fiddle, flutes, whistles, mandolin, bouzouki, guitar, tenor banjo, harmonica, bodhran, and bass. They love to sing.
Over the years, They have performed at numerous festivals and music halls. Among them have been the Michigan Irish Music Festival, Great American Irish Festival, LaCrosse Irish Festival, Chicago’s Irish American Heritage Center Irish Fest, Milwaukee Irish Fest,The Acorn Theater in Three Oaks Michigan. The DeBartolo Performing Arts Center – University of Notre Dame,Warren Cultural Center in Greenfield, Iowa, The Schauer Arts and Activities Center in Hartford, Wisconsin, The Riveria Theater in Three Rivers, Michigan,Muskifest in Bethlehem, PA, Norris Community Center in Naples, Florida, The Majestic Theater in Gettysburgh, PA, and the Kranert Center for the Arts at The University of Illinois.
Sleder’s is delighted to be bringing this bit of Celtic magic to the Porch. It will be a great way to kick off St. Paddy’s Day week. Why even the leprechauns will be dancing!
