Jen Sygit Trio in Concert

November 13, 2018

Sleder’s Family Tavern is pleased to announce the next performance in our ‘On the Porch’ concert series featuring the talented Jen Sygit Trio on Sunday December 2nd, 2018 at 4 p.m.  Joining Jen in are Sam Corbin, and Geoff Ian Lewis of Lincoln County Process.   The concert will feature banjo, acoustic guitar, light electric guitar, harmonica, cajon, and harmony vocals.

Singer-Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jen Sygit has three solo albums under her belt with her album So Long Pollyanna named album of the year by both John Bommarito (107.1 fm Ann Arbor, MI) and The Progressive Torch & Twang (88.9 fm East Lansing, MI).  So Long Pollyanna was also nominated for two Jammie Awards (WYCE Grand Rapids, MI) including Best Song for “Sugar High,” which later won Best Country Song at the Garden State Film Festival in 2014 for its use in the independent film Buffalo.

Her second release Leaving Marshall St. was nominated for a Detroit Music Award for Best Acoustic/Folk Album in 2007 and made it to number 9 on the independent roots music charts that year.  In addition to performing as a solo artist, Jen is also a member of the all-female string band Stella!, roots rock band Lincoln County Process, and is a sought after back up singer and session vocalist.  Now, besides regionally touring and playing shows, Jen also hosts the weekly radio show “Eclecticana” (WLNZ 89.7fm Lansing, MI) and has been commanding the airwaves for six years.

Sygit has just released her fourth studio album.  It’s titled: It’s About Time and produced by Dominic John Davis (bassist to Jack White, Buddy Miller, and Joshua Davis).  The album features an amazing cast of talent including guest appearances by three-time Grammy winner, Luther Dickinson (The Black Crowes, North Mississippi All-Stars) and nine-time June Award winner, Colin Linden (TV show “Nashville,” Emmylou Harris). It also features some fine Michigan talent including Drew Howard, Mike Lynch, Geoff Lewis and horn arrangements by Ross Huff.

The Sleder’s porch is an intimate venue with wonderful sound–a perfect setting to celebrate the release of Jen’s newest album!  Join us for a great dinner and a fun, roots rock performance!
