Steel City Rovers – St. Paddy’s Day Concert

February 18, 2019

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at Sleder’s with the Steel City Rovers!

The Steel City Rovers perform a dynamic and expressive composite of traditional Celtic music and North American styles including bluegrass, folk and roots. Their original works touch on issues of love, loss, celebration, and heritage and they also breathe life into newly-discovered instrumental melodies from as far back as centuries ago.

Their sophisticated arrangements are inviting for the most casual listener but are rewarding for those who are well versed in the nuances of musical complexity. The Rovers stand out for their powerful, emotive vocals and engaging entertainment. They perform on meticulously crafted replicas of historical instruments that rarely appear on today’s musical landscape.

This highly active touring band headlines large festival stages, gives intimate concert performances, educates in a variety of workshop and master-class settings, and performs internationally with symphonies. They create, collaborate, and work hard to further the love and awareness of music.

Review of the Steel City Rovers Show at Mt. St. Mary’s College, Maryland:

“Following the brief intermission, Steel City Rovers returned to the stage for a second set that really hit a home run with the crowd.  We had overheard a few conversations from people in the crowd about how enjoyable the artists and music had been thus far, and one even stated that this was the best show in all the years he had been coming to this annual event at the university.  The crowd were incredibly lively and completely engaged, and during one lengthy instrumental piece, Ryan would work his way through the audience with his cell phone in hand to capture the moment.  The band were on fire, and Ryan’s unexpected antics really had the crowd joining in with the revelry.  Three tracks from Steel City Rovers debut EP would be performed during this set, much to our delight, as we once again got to experience the joys that are “Aibhlinn’s Dance,” “Single Malt of Knowledge,” and “Summer Dance at Montmagny.”  Having earned the undivided attention from the packed out auditorium, the band held nothing back for “Oh My Lord,” their finale that would result in a well-deserved standing ovation from many new fans in Maryland.”
